What is a text file, and how can I create one?

Almost all programs have an option for creating a text file.  Usually when you save a document you can change the "Save as type" box to "Plain Text" or "CSV".  This will create a new document, in a format that ClearSMS can understand.

If you have your contacts and their phone numbers in an Email client such as Outlook or Thunderbird, you can go to the address book and "Export" it to a text file.
